Project Aria is Meta's egocentric research platform: glasses worn throughout the day, designed to help understand the technical and human challenges of building all-day wearable AI and AR devices. The research it enables covers contextual AI, computer vision, robotics, and accessibility.
The work runs across hardware, sensor systems, machine perception and how people actually live with a device. The open question is what all-day computing feels like to wear, and to be near when someone else is wearing it.
One research demo from this work was built with the Computer History Museum in Mountain View, California, and Lighthouse Guild: an AI-guided museum tour where the glasses handle both wayfinding and interpretation, with the narration grounded in the museum’s own curatorial knowledge.
